Fire destroyed a home inside the Lakewood Mobile Home Park on River Road in Calverton this morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the working structure fire just before 11 a.m. Flames and smoke were spewing from the home when firefighters arrived on scene. The occupants of the home had evacuated from the burning structure.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to treat the occupants for smoke inhalation, according to radio reports. Wading River Fire Department rescue responded to the scene on mutual aid and transported both patients to Peconic Bay Medical Center.

A neighbor called 911 to report the fire, police said. Riverhead Town fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
