Last night at 12:32am, the Riverhead Fire Department responded to a reported Signal-14, car fire, on Pulaski Street just west of Roanoke Avenue. The first chief on-scene transmitted a confirmed 'working' fire, and upon the first engines arrival it was believed that there was a nitrous oxide bottle in the trunk. After further investigation it was found to be a gallon of 'nitro' fuel commonly used in remote-control model cars. Because of the volunteers quick response with Engine 6-2-2 from Headquarters, and Engine 6-2-14 from Station-1, the fire damage was contained to the cars engine compartment.
