Riverhead Fire Dept. assist Jamesport FD at Structure fire

Firefighters are battling a blaze at a house on Pier Avenue. Police found the house engulfed when an officer arrived on scene at about 7:19 p.m., according to radio reports. All residents had safely evacuated the residence, the officer at the scene reported.
The house at 59 Pier Avenue backs up to a farm field and a firefighter reported “wind-driven issues all around the house.”
amesport Fire Department is being assisted by Riverhead, Mattituck and Cutchogue fire departments.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance also responded to the scene, as did the Riverhead fire marshal’s office.
The two-story, 2,232-square-foot home was built in 2001, according to public records, and is situated on a flag lot on the west side of Pier Avenue.
The fire was declared under control by the Jamesport fire chief at approximately 8:35 p.m.
