Around lunchtime today, our District Manager spotted smoke coming from a residence and immediately alerted dispatch. Upon further investigation, he saw flames coming from the back corner of the house and extending into the attic. He quickly notified dispatch of a working fire and began knocking down the flames with a nearby garden hose.

Joined by one of our Fire Commissioners, they entered the home to check for occupants and safely assisted two elderly residents and a dog outside.

Riverhead firefighters arrived shortly after and swiftly brought the fire under control. Jamesport Fire Department provided Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) coverage, while Wading River Fire Department stood by in support. The Riverhead Police Department and RVAC were also on scene to assist with operations.
