🚒 Riverhead Fire Department – 2026 Apparatus Wet Down 💦 |
| October 18, 2026 | |
| Yesterday, October 17th, the Riverhead Fire Department held a traditional wet-down ceremony at Fire Headquarters to celebrate the addition of three new vehicles to our fleet: Engine 6-2-14 (Eagle Hose Company No. 4), Brush Response Attack Truck 6-2-8 (Reliable Hose & Engine Company No. 1), and Chief's vehicle 6-2-31. Following the ceremonial blessing and dedication, the new vehicles participated in the longstanding fire service tradition of passing beneath streams of water provided by our neighboring departments. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Flanders, Jamesport, Wading River, East Moriches, Cutchogue, and Ridge Fire Departments for joining us and participating in the wet down. A special thank-you to the Hampton Bays Fire Department for providing standby coverage at our headquarters and responding to three automatic fire alarms during the event, ensuring our district remained protected throughout the ceremony. We also thank the Riverhead Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners for their continued support and commitment to providing our members with the equipment needed to serve and protect our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this occasion possible! |
