| On Wednesday, 09/02/09, a 'Car Fires' drill was held at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yaphank. There was a good turnout, with many probationary firefighters riding along on Engine 6-2-3 and Lighting/Support Truck 6-2-9. First, there was a classroom session explaining the various types of new vehicles, and their inherent hazards that we may encounter. Numerous emergency scene scenarios were discussed and firefighting tactics were reviewed. The academy provided both a tractor trailer truck and a car for us to practice on.
