At 7:29am this morning, Riverhead's Chiefs were dispatched to Mercy Middle School for an automatic alarm. Upon arrival they found smoke in the building from an oil burner puff back. A Signal-23 was then transmitted. Two engines and approximately twenty members responded. After venting the building with exhaust fans, the call was turned over to the Riverhead Town Fire Marshall's. All units were released at 8:08am.
