| Catherine A. "Chick" Densieski of Riverhead died May 3 at Central Suffolk Hospital at the age of 60.
She was born in Riverhead on Oct. 27, 1940, to Walter and Wanda Danowski. She graduated from Riverhead High School and worked for Riverhead Nursing Home and then as a dental assistant for Dr. William Savino Jr. in Center Moriches.
"She was a great polka lover and dancer, and the band coordinator for Polish Town Festival for many years," said her husband, Frank D. Densieski. She was also a well-known surf caster and had a favorite fishing spot on the Sound beach in Riverhead. It was known as her spot among other veteran casters, who would move aside when she arrived, said her husband.
She was a member and director of the Polish Town Civic Association and a past member of the Columbiettes Council 928 and the Riverhead Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, she's survived by two children, Kenneth and Diane, also of Riverhead; her mother, Wanda Danowski of Baiting Hollow; and two siblings, Patricia Penney of Flanders and Walter Danowski Jr. of Shoreham. |
