| Mae Carlson of Riverhead died May 24 at Central Suffolk Hospital in Riverhead. She was 96.
The daughter of Michael and Julia (Lennon) Nash, she was born in New York City on May 31, 1905. She worked as a clerk for the Suffolk County Water Authority before retiring. Ms. Carlson was the last surviving charter member of the Riverhead Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Riverhead Garden Club, Women of the Moose and the Riverhead Women's Club.
Predeceased by her husbands, Rudolph Hajek in 1958 and Edwin Carlson in 1987, she is survived by a daughter, Barbara Schneider of Riverhead; a stepson, Edwin Carlson of New Jersey; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was May 27 at F.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, Riverhead. A funeral service was held there on May 28. Interment followed at Aquebogue Cemetery. |
