| Wilfred T. Sullivan Sr., 68, of Riverhead died at Central Suffolk Hospital there on Sept. 25.
Born in Riverhead on March 30, 1934, he was the son of Wilfred and Elizabeth Sullivan. He graduated from Riverhead High School in 1953 and was a retired laborer with Local 66.
Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Riverhead American Legion Post and the Marine Corps League, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. He was a longtime member of the Riverhead Elks Lodge, a former member of Riverhead Fire Department's Washington Engine Co., and served as president of the RFD Exempts.
He is survived by his wife, Emilia; six sons, Allan, of Sumner, Wash., Thomas John, of Phoenix, Ariz., Wilfred Jr., of Westhampton, Lawrence, of Key West, Fla., Thomas James, of Purcellville, Va., and Gregory, of Speonk; a daughter, Diane Mullen of Westhampton; a brother James, of Hawaii; two sisters, Eileen, of Florida, and Cathy, of Canton, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond.
Visitation was Sept. 29 at F.J. McLaughlin Funeral Home, Riverhead. A funeral service was conducted on Sept. 30 at St. John's Church, Riverhead. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Riverhead American Legion Post, the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars. |
