| On Sunday, January 24th, 2010 at 10:56pm, the Riverhead Fire Department was called out for a reported Signal-13, structure fire, on Gregory Place off Osborne Avenue.
The crew on first arriving Engine 6-2-4 found a smoky condition. The source was quickly discovered as an extension cord that had shorted out. Just as Engine 6-2-2 and Tower Ladder 6-2-6 arrived on scene a Signal-9, requesting all additional apparatus to stand-by at stations, was transmitted.
A Signal-5, end of alarm, was called at 11:13pm.
Then, on Monday, January 25th, 2010 at 9:07am, the Riverhead Chiefs were called out for an automatic alarm at the Omni Health Care Facility on East Main Street.
While the chiefs were still en-route, the dispatcher received a callback from the alarm company stating that someone on-site reported that they actually have real fire. A Signal-13, structure fire, was then immediately transmitted and all Riverhead Firefighters were activated.
Upon the arrival of the chiefs it was discovered that the fire was out. A towelette had been ignited with a butane lighter.
At 9:32am the scene was turned over to the Riverhead Town Fire Marshals Office. |
