| On Wednesday, at 7:19am, the Riverhead Chiefs were activated to investigate a Signal-23, automatic fire alarm, in building number seven, at John Wesley Village.
First arriving chiefs found a heavy smoke condition and immediately radioed the dispatcher to transmit a Signal-13, structure fire, over general tones.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that something had caught fire on the stovetop and ignited the exhaust fan mounted above. The melted fan was removed from the home, and an exhaust fan was set-up to aid the removal of the acrid smoke from the building.
The scene was turned over to the Riverhead Town Fire Marshall's Office and all units cleared by 8:00am. |
