On Friday morning, at 10:30am, the Riverhead Fire Department was dispatched to a Signal-13, structure fire, on Southfield Lane, in Calverton. The initial report was of heavy black smoke coming from the homes chimney. First arriving chief, 6-2-32, found it to be a heating system malfunction, and secured the oil burner. Engines 6-2-2, 6-2-3 and 6-2-4 responded along with Support Truck 6-2-9. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps was also on-scene in case of injuries.
