On Thursday at 12:22 PM the Riverhead Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Signal-23, smoke in the building, at 518 East Main Street. This address is the local Social Security Administration Building. Captain's 6-2-51 and 6-2-53 were first on-scene, and along with the crew off arriving Engine 6-2-3, began an investigation. They quickly found the source of the smoke to be the air conditioning unit. The unit was secured and all volunteers were dismissed by 12:36 PM.
