Working the Fireworks

On Sunday night, the Riverhead Fire Department was requested to a stand-by detail, so that the annual Riverhead 'BID' sponsored fireworks show could take place. Engine 6-2-3, Tower Ladder 6-2-6 and GI-Rig 6-2-12A were on scene, and ready for any potential problems. It appeared that a larger than normal crowd had turned out this year, and the weather, perfect for fireworks, was probably a big reason.

The crew assigned to the 102' Tower Ladders bucket had the best seat in the house, hovering about 75' above the street. They were directed to keep an eye on all the areas rooftops for any stray hot embers. After an excellent show, a final scan of the area was made and determined to be all clear.
