Riverhead Fire Department received a call for a boat fire, at the dock, behind the Moose Lodge. 3 Chiefs and an engine responded within minutes. Upon arrival a 28' fishing boat was spewing smoke from below the aft deck. Firefighters made access to the compartment and began working the fire. The engine compartment was soon accessed allowing a more direct shot at the fire. To finally extinguish the fire, foam was used as a suppressant. The Riverhead Town Fire Marshal was called to the scene and 6-2-30 soon after gave a Signal 5.
