Busy Night For Riverhead Volunteer Fire Department

On July 29, 2025 at approximately 11:01 p.m., The Riverhead Fire Department responded to the Friars Head Golf Club, located at 3000 Sound Ave., Riverhead for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. It was determined the alarm was activated in a golf cart storage area. The power was shut off to the affected area and the scene was cleared at 11:39 p.m. An engine, ladder truck and approximately 25 firefighters responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. The Riverhead Town Fire Marshal's Office was notified for follow up at a later time.

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 1:12 a.m., the Riverhead Fire Department was activated for a vehicle fire in front of 48 Kroemer Ave., Riverhead. Upon Fire Department arrival, a fully involved commercial truck fire was located. The fire was extinguished by approximately 50 firefighters and two fire engines, a ladder truck and one support vehicle. The Riverhead Town Fire Marshal's Office was notified and requested the scene. The scene was turned over to the Riverhead Town Police and Riverhead Fire Marshal's Office at 1:47 a.m.

Also on July 30, 2025, at approximately 6:21 a.m., The Riverhead Fire Department responded to 954 Northville Turnpike, Riverhead for a reported residential structure fire. Upon the arrival of First Assistant
Chief Sean Brennan, a two story residential home was located with an active fire in the residence. Approximately 50 firefighters responded with two engines, two ladder trucks and 3 support vehicles.
The Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance Corps., along with the Flanders Northampton Volunteer
Ambulance was requested and responded to the scene. Mutual Aid was requested from the Flanders,
Jamesport, East Quogue and Westampton Beach Fire Departments to assist at the scene. The Eastport Fire Department responded to the Riverhead Fire Department Headquarters to stand by. One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion and released. The scene was turned over the Riverhead Town Police Detective Division, Riverhead Fire Marshal's Office and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad for further investigation at 8:26 a.m.

At approximately 9:04 a.m., The Riverhead Fire Department was requested back to 954 Northville Turnpike to extinguish a smoldering area from the previous fire. The scene was cleared at 9:48 a.m.
