Earlier today around lunchtime, the Riverhead Fire Department provided mutual aid to the East Quogue Fire Department for a working fire.
Riverhead units responded with full crews and operated on scene assisting with fire suppression and overhaul. Operations were made more challenging due to strong winds and the waterfront location of the residence. Riverhead personnel remained on scene for approximately 3.5 hours. East Quogue command staff and operations personnel did an excellent job managing the incident under difficult conditions.
