Earlier today, Riverhead Fire Department units responded to a reported brush fire in the vicinity of the Suffolk County Center on Center Drive in Riverhead. Upon arrival, crews operated at the scene while additional brush and tanker apparatus were requested to assist due to conditions in the area.

Mutual aid assistance was requested from multiple neighboring departments, including Flanders, Eastport, Manorville, Westhampton, and Ridge. The incident was later turned over to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Southampton Fire Marshal’s Office for continued operations.

We thank all responding agencies for their assistance and cooperation.
