| Dennis Hamill won Tuesday's Riverhead Fire District commissioner election, defeating John Tradeski by a vote of 307 to 292. (This tally represents the closest commissioners race in Riverhead Fire District history)
Mr. Hamill will serve a five-year term.
Both men are former department chiefs, with Mr. Hamill serving in that role from 1986 to 1988 and Mr. Tradeski from 1996 to 1998. Mr. Hamill was also a district commissioner once before, from 1989 to 1991.
